About RCCS

Our mission – RCCS is expanding access to the sport of squash in our communities by introducing the sport of squash to children and adults who otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to play; and by partnering with new squash court construction projects in our area. We are innovative, inclusive and intentionally diverse. We are providing children in particular (ages 10-18) with court access, squash racquets, equipment, and on-court coaching in collaboration or at no cost to the kids where possible though our innovative programs!

Founded in 2018, RCCS hit the ground running on the heels of VA Squash’s successful funding and construction of three new squash courts at the Downtown YMCA in Richmond, Virginia and with thriving squash programs in our area such as VA Squash’s SquashRocks!, the YMCA Squash Center’s programs and all of our local clubs, where the shoe fits we look forward to placing our participants once they become enthusiasts. Incremental funding through donations has allowed RCCS to reach more than 50 children already and provide over 400 on court per-person coaching hours. We hope to reach over 100 children in our programs this year alone. Furthermore, RCCS along with VA Squash and the Rappahannock YMCA are partnering in Fredericksburg, Virginia for great new project – “Bringing Squash in Fredericksburg in 2019”. Our Fredericksburg fundraising is already 33% of goal and fingers crossed, we will have another new squash court constructed in Virginia and have extended the reach of our innovative programming by year-end!

Our program director is John Patton. John is a US Squash certified teaching professional, Head Coach, College of William & Mary Club Squash and Squash Director at the YMCA Squash Center, Richmond VA. Additionally, John is Vice President of VA Squash, our 501 c-3, nonprofit organization that promotes and organizes squash in central and Eastern Virginia with a track record of “providing access” going back more than 20 years.

How You Can Help

JP

Volunteering with us on court. We provide on-court coaching and we need assistant coach volunteers. We usually are on court weekdays, often mid-day, here in Richmond at the YMCA Squash Center, 2 West Franklin Street. If you would like more information or to volunteer with John on court, click the button below:

Supporting our operating budget. Because we use volunteers and donated equipment where possible, our cost to deliver our program is leveraged and very cost-effective. We need your financial support to help us continue to deliver this programming.

Right now, we have a matching pledge of $1000.00 awaiting your support. If you would like to help us reach our 2019 goal of $10,000, supporting us for a full budget year and reaching over 100 children, please click here:

Extending RCCS to Fredericksburg, Virginia. And finally, we are mid-stream in our 2019 squash court capital campaign to bring a squash court to Fredericksburg and fund year one of RCCS in that community.

Our construction budget for the project is $35,000 and the RCCS annual operating budget is $10,000 (i.e. $45,000 total goal).

We are 33% of our way there. If you are interested in learning more, click here:
